About
Dimlang is a Nigerian operational intelligence research and technology organisation. Its name, and its way of working, come from the mountains of Adamawa.
01The name
Mount Dimlang, formerly recorded as Vogel Peak, is the highest point of the Shebshi Mountains in Adamawa State, in north-eastern Nigeria.
We chose the name for what a mountain offers: a place from which the land below can be seen whole. That is the work: turning scattered observations into a clear view of the ground.
02What the mountain stands for
Seeing a situation from above, where its shape becomes clear.
Relating one observation to everything around it, in space and in time.
Making what was collected findable, rather than lost in storage.
Systems built to keep working in hard conditions, for years, not demos.
Watching carefully and recording faithfully, so the record can be trusted.
The line
The line is meant to be remembered. It is a statement of what the work is for: that the people who are lost, taken, or in danger should not be invisible to those trying to reach them.
It is also a standard. If we say we can see, the evidence has to be there, and it has to be shown.
